There’s probably still a misconception that Cyprus is just a small Mediterranean island with palm trees, clear seas, and sandy beaches! But there are mountains with pine trees and a lot of snow on them during the winter! During the winter months Cyprus have the most wonderful snowy slopes for skiers and people to build snowmen and go sledding!
Cyprus not only has sunshine, it has snow all through the month of January until March. If we are lucky enough, the first snowfall will be in December since winter season Cyprus is December to February. Troodos mountain is 2000 meters above sea level and Mount Olympus is the Highest peak of Troodos mountains. This mountain, has 4 slopes for skiers to ski:
1) Zeus Slope which 380 metres are located on the North face which is best for advance level skiers.
2) Hera Slope which is 22 metres, located on the North Face and is mostly for beginners
3) Aphrodite Slope is found in Sun Valley, is 125 metres and is a beginner level slope
4) Hermes slope is also found in Sun Valley as is 140 metres but this slope is for intermediate level skiers
These very scenic views of snow tree tops and mountains with a blanket of white snow covering everything in its path will make you also want to grab a hot chocolate or Zivania to keep warm.
The Troodos square is where you will want to go to warm yourself up by a cozy fireplace and drinking traditional Zivania or mulled wine to keep warm after a nice ski down the slopes. Evidently, Cyprus is not just a summer destination but it is also a winter destination for Ski, anything snow related and so much more!
